The Challenge
Thinkbox, the marketing body for commercial TV in the UK, needed to scope out a datalake that would bring together VOD and linear TV ad exposure data across multiple broadcasters — with ITV, Sky, and Channel 4 as major stakeholders.
This meant navigating complex requirements across multiple organisations, each with their own data architectures, priorities, and constraints. The brief required structured requirements gathering across 12+ stakeholders, followed by a vendor evaluation to recommend the right platform.
Our Approach
AICOG was engaged as a sole consultant to lead the entire requirements and evaluation process. The work involved:
- Structured stakeholder interviews across 12+ participants from Thinkbox, ITV, Sky, and Channel 4
- Requirements framework design — building a systematic approach to capture, track, and reconcile needs across organisations
- Vendor evaluation — assessing three platform vendors against the gathered requirements
- AI-augmented delivery — using Claude Code extensively as a knowledge work tool to process interview transcripts, extract themes, identify areas of agreement and disagreement, and maintain a living requirements tracker
The AI tooling was critical to the delivery. Working as a sole consultant with large volumes of stakeholder input, the risk of missing nuance was real. Claude Code proved highly effective for tracking lengthy transcripts, surfacing emerging themes and dependencies, and building a complex, evolving picture of needs across organisations. We wrote about this approach in detail in our blog post: Claude Code Is Not Just for Coding.
The Results
AICOG delivered a comprehensive requirements specification and vendor recommendation to Thinkbox and the broadcaster stakeholders. The project demonstrated that a focused, AI-augmented sole consultant can effectively manage complex multi-stakeholder requirements processes that would traditionally require a larger team.
Why This Matters for Small Businesses
Requirements gathering and vendor selection are tasks every growing business faces — whether it’s choosing a CRM, scoping a data platform, or evaluating AI tools. Getting it wrong is expensive. AICOG brings structured methodology and enterprise experience to these decisions, at a scale and cost that works for smaller organisations.
